I can't find any working feeds for the dyamo-ska game either, hopefully it's a weekend thing and not a sign of things to come.

Anyways I am almost positive you have to have Howe andthe beast as your number one pairing, I mean when you have a positive+/- season during a loosing year, that speaks for itself.

2nd pairng is a little more tricky...but IMO its progner and eric desjardins, pronger would be the shut down guy and desjardins your puck mover.

I limited it to 20 candidates. He'll be in vote for 6th/7th D.

In looking at voting so far in the poll, there are no real surprises. However, I'm not exactly sure how some folks could decide that Mark Howe or Eric Desjardins were not among the Flyers' top five defensemen of all time.

So this simulation... do you know how it technically will work? Basically, would it be favorable to take purely offensive guys, or throw in some more defensive oriented players as well, to end up with a better mix of players? Or do we just pick the guys we think were the "best" regardless, and let the chips fall where they may?

Maybe I've already thought too hard about it...

An EA Sports type of simulation is the plan.

I had a hard time not to vote Timmo in but I had to give the nod to The Count. I know he played only 4 full seasons with the Flyers, but when healthy, he was a monster on D.

He was an intimidating, shutdown defenseman who could produce plenty of offense (scoring 21 goals his first season with the Flyers). His 6'5" frame and right handed shot didn't hurt either. He's be the number 1 defenseman on this team today without a doubt.

If it was a choice between a healthy Timmo and Dailey, Bob gets my vote.

totally agree Bill

Howe
Desjardins
Timmonen
McCrimmon
Top 4,

I thought Dailey over Pronger, (Pronger just one good year here, Dailey I believe had at least one similar season here to Pronger, but a few 40 point seasons as well).

number 6 possibly Marsh or Wilson, (maybe 3 years from now we'll debate Coburn?)

Bill
not to off subject, but do you think, (sounds crazy), but there may have been a little more to the Jim Devellano rant than just a guy speaking from the heart on his own?

It seems like maybe it was done to send a message, (by the league?) of some kind?

like maybe a possibly it was staged a little?
seems crazy I know, but the owners having the gag order & all, some of the owners are very outspoken & we've heard nothing but propaganda.

The whole NHL lockout thing is bumming me out. I can only hope that both can come to an agreement before any regular season games are lost. I am pissed that both sides are not really trying to get this lockout over. Sucks but I know I will not be subscribing to the online NHL center ice and I will not be buying Flyers gear. I will be following the Eagles, kinda sucks b/c I am really into the Flyers but I will not support this lockout crap.

Same here! This hurts more than 8 years ago because we at least had the framework established after the last lockout, so one would think that this situation would be different. Now it's not about negotiating or playing, its more about who wins & who loses, or which side tramples the other.
Where's the "partnership" when both sides hate one another?

Crispy will be in the second-round of voting for one of the final two forward roster spots. I doubt he'll get voted in, but he was absolutely an asset as a 4th line player, PKer and as part of the rather extensive and unified locker room leadership group of the Flyers' two Stanley Cup champion clubs.

A lot of younger fans have never heard of him, and his career ended so prematurely because of injury. But he absolutely merits consideration. He was sort of a righthanded precursor Pronger when reasonably healthy (and was healthier a little longer in Philly than Pronger), although a less consistent version of Al MacInnis might be a better comparison type to Dailey.

Are we only taking into account games played as a flyer or players whole career?

I based it on Flyers only. That's why I didn't include Paul Coffey, for instance.
